Baliem Valley  There are quite a lot of native villages around Jiwika which people, especially old ones, are still living in their old style. Baliem Valley - West Papua - May 2005 Group photo  Leadership in Dani had been and is still unique. Dani leaders are the men of influence in stead of the men of power. The chief can be recognized easily as he is the only one wearing a shell tie. Baliem Valley  War was an immediate part of Dani life. Every Dani alliance was constantly at war with at least one of its neighbouring alliances - Baliem Valley - May 2005.
